Specialising in the songs you know and love from the last 6 decades, Duke Vox are sure to impress. Audiences can expect to hear many of their favourite songs ranging from The Kinks to George Ezra, with a surprisingly fuller sound than expected from just two performers.
The duo is fronted by Stu Johns an experienced singer and pianist, who has performed weekly as a soloist and also in a number of different musical acts around Perth for over 17 years. Stu is a classically trained pianist, with a strong and versatile singing voice, able to perform various genres including rock, blues, ballads, pop, and swing. By providing vocals, as well as a range of sounds with up to 2 keyboards, Stu has proven he can deliver at all event styles.

Acoustic guitar, electric guitar and percussion are all provided by Rene Tostevin, who has performed at pubs, weddings, corporate and private functions in Australia for 30 years. Some of Rene’s most notable gigs include the NRL Nines 2020 pre-game show at HBF Park and NYE on the Foreshore festival at Ozone Reserve in 2016. Rene’s choice to make cover songs “his own” results in a sometimes soothing, sometimes punchy, but always rich sound. Rene can bring a crowd to sing along with tailored versions of any rock hit, or modernised classic.

Duke Vox take pride in offering either acoustic performances, electric performances or both, ensuring that each event receives the perfect music choice and ambience.Although Duke Vox has only been a project since 2020, Rene and Stu have played together on an ad-hoc basis, for a further 10 years. Because of their live experience, they each deliver a professional performance, with a relaxed approach. Duke Vox are a top choice for cafés, private functions, weddings, community events and pubs.

MULTIPLE PERFORMANCE STYLE OFFERINGS – Duke Vox perform in a variety of formats to suit the client and the specific event type.

  • UNPLUGGED: This performance is ideal for cafes, wineries, wedding receptions and dinner events, where a stripped back performance is required. This consists only of acoustic guitar, keyboards, vocals and some percussion.
  • CHILLED: This offering is similar to the Unplugged mode, however includes minimal backing tracks. It is ideal for cafes, Sunday Sessions and corporate events.
  • ELECTRIC: Featuring electric guitar, keys, vocals and backing tracks, this offering is designed to get the party pumping!
  • CUSTOM: Furthermore, Duke Vox also offer customised formats, such as 3 piece (with additional female vocals) and full band formats. These are tailored to suit specific event requirements and are all available upon request.
