Rachel Rachel is a singer songwriter from the mid north coast of New South Wales. Given two first names by her parents, she knew from a young age that she was born to have her names  in lights.

Rachel was born into a family of musicians. Partly due to this, but mostly due to the fact that there was very little to do in the small country town she grew up in, she began writing songs from a very young age. At age eight she performed the first song she had written, live on local radio. At 16, she was heard by the Minister of Education who was on a tour to regional high schools. She and her cousin were subsequently chosen by him to be flown to Sydney and invited to perform at the opening of Education Week. This sparked her love of live performance and soon after this, she and her cousin finished high school, moved to Sydney and formed the duo Falling Down Stairs. Whilst a part of Falling Down Stairs, Rachel gained a solid local fan base performing up and down the East Coast of Australia in venues from Sydney to as far north as Hamilton Island.

After taking a few years off music to focus on a more stable, society approved career, Rachel realised that a life of normalcy was not her calling and returned to her first love, writing and performing music. She has been living in Newcastle for the past couple of years performing relentlessly in bars, restaurants, for corporate events and weddings. She has very recently moved to Darwin to widen her horizons and focus on finishing recording her first album which has been a long time in the waiting.

Although Rachel’s main goal and progress is in writing and performing her own songs, she also finds great joy in playing covers. She has a massive repertoire and plays a large variety of music. Folk, indie, RnB, rap and hip hop to top 40, she has a certain knack for making a song her own.  Over the years, she has definitely found her own very distinctive sound. With skilful guitar and beautiful vocals, she is well versed in reading crowds and can strip back songs to create a beautiful atmosphere, or build the energy through live looping.
