Steve Parkin is a two-time ARIA and APRA award-winning songwriter and performer based in Perth, Western Australia. A mainstay of both the WA and national music scene for nearly 20 years, he began his musical career with successful local Perth bands of the late’90’s/early’00’s Vinyl and (Triple J fave) Autopilot. He has gone on to release three solo LP’s, and several solo EP’s. He’s featured as session player for many acts and on many records, notably as lead guitarist/keys/backing vocals in Bob Evans’ touring band. Signed to Universal Publishing world-wide, Steve Parkin writes/co-writes songs with artists as diverse as Ruby Boots, Josh Pyke, Shihad, Jessica Mauboy, Sinead Burgess, Josh Johnstone, Bob Evans, Gossling and Eskimo Joe – with whom he co-wrote 2009’s ARIA-award winning #1 song “Foreign Land”, as well as three of their other albums. With Josh Pyke, Kev “Bob Evans” Mitchell and Eskimo Joe’s Kav Temperley, Steve is a member of ARIA-nominated four-piece Aussie “supergroup” Basement Birds. A popular voice and face on the local pub circuit, Steve Parkin enjoys playing cruisey, laid-back acoustic solo gigs featuring his unique take on both classic tunes and contemporary Aussie songs his “sing-a-long-a-larrikin”-style Sunday session vibe and a generally infectious, fun-seeking attitude. A group of his famous buddies also pop up now and then for duo and band gigs. Drunken (and serious!) requests, good-natured banter, sweet acoustic and souring vocal melodies are the idea. Every now and then someone even knows who he is!! Recently Steve has had great success with his “Record Club” series of shows at The Newport and other venues around WA. 96 “live album” performances from Steve, plus members of Karnivool, Eskimo Joe, Jebediah, Gyroscope, Ruby Boots, Rick Steele, David Hyams, The Murphy Brothers and more! Many of these acts are also available for bookings. Check out the Record Club Roadshow FB page and YouTube channel!
