After 20 years based in Melbourne and Sydney and performing all over the globe, Steve Simmons has returned permanently to Perth as of 2018. Having written and sung on 2 Australian Country #1 singles with his band Deep Creek Road, Steve has performed at some of Australia’s biggest festivals and events. He has written music for major U.S TV Networks and won numerous awards both as a singer and actor.

He has written music for major U.S TV Networks and won numerous awards both as a singer and actor.

Steve Simmons studied a music & performing arts degree at WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) By age 19, Steve was fronting Chunky, the biggest cover band on the west coast and making regular TV appearances as both a singer and actor. His band released an album that went to No 1 on the W.A charts and Steve performed at many festivals including headlining in front of 11,000 people at Perth’s Burswood Superdome. Steve Simmons spent a short stint in the USA before a relocation to Sydney, and 3 years with an original act that released 2 albums and various singles throughout 10 countries in Europe & Asia, selling over 10000 albums. After the act split, Steve Simmons headed south to Melbourne. Steve formed and fronted Melbourne cover band legends β€˜Pean,’ an outfit that performed over 5000 shows to a massive following. In 2012 Steve formed original act Deep Creek Road which has had widescale success and performed at numerous major festivals. They were also nominated for a CMC music award for best new artist for the 2016 awards and won the Planet Country award for best Australian group.

Simultaneously Steve Simmons formed and performed with his top 40 band β€˜Hit Nation’ which has performed in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, China and Vietnam. Steve Simmons has also performed thousands of acoustic shows and boasts one of the biggest song repertoires around, often challenging audiences to try and name an artist he can’t launch into a song of! Steve’s acting credits include a recurring role on Neighbours and guest roles in TV shows like City Homicide, Stingers etc, plus feature film roles & over 20 TV commercials. Steve also performed as a lead in musical theatre shows including β€˜RENT,’ (Guild nomination for best male lead) β€˜The Wedding Singer,’ and β€˜High School Musical.’
