For the last 15 years, Peter Rowsthorn has worked as a stand-up comedian and Master of Ceremonies solely in the corporate market. Peter Rowsthorn understands the variations of events, and makes a point of being flexible and easy to work with. This value in Peter makes himself a “coordinators dream”. Peter has appeared regularly on “Thank God You’re Here” series one through four, popped up on “Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation”; and can be currently seen hosting the delightful “Can We Help” on ABC on Friday nights. Peter Rowsthorn, however is probably still best known as long-suffering husband and pants-man Brett Craig on “Kath & Kim”.

Peter Rowsthorn – Full Bio

For over 40 years, Peter Rowsthorn has entertained us as a comedian, actor, presenter, master of ceremonies and corporate facilitator. Starting in the early 80s as a stand-up comedian, he has worked in clubs and festivals throughout Australia and the world to this day.

Peter soon found himself on television. Some of his TV credits include Comedy Company (88/89/90), Big Gig (91/92), Let the Blood Run Free (2 series, 1990–1992), Hey Hey It’s Saturday (many appearances 1990–2000), Kath and Kim (series 1, 2, 3 and 4), plus Kath and Kim Da Vinci Code (television movie), Thank God You’re Here (series 1, 2, 3, 4 and 2024), Can We Help (host, 2005–2011), Who Do You Think You Are? (2014), I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! (2018), Flashpoint 7 Perth (presenter, 2019), numerous stand-up comedy specials, and The Amazing Race Celebrity Edition (2023).

Some of his film credits include Crackers (1997) [Bruno – lead role], Bad Eggs (2001), Takeaway (2002), Kath & Kimderella (2012), Paper Planes (2014) [feature role], Three Summers (a Ben Elton film, 2018), I Got a Girl (2021) [feature], Frederickstown (releasing end 2026 – lead role), Ghosts (in production – guest role), and Reckless (SBS, 2025).

Stage credits in lead roles include The Rocky Horror Show (1992–1998), The Tempest (MTC), Laughter on the 23rd Floor (MTC), Great Expectations (Black Swan Theatre Company), Laughter on the 23rd Floor (Black Swan Theatre Company), Glengarry Glen Ross (Black Swan Theatre Company), Priscilla Queen of the Desert (Crown Theatre Perth, May 2021), and Chicago the Musical (2023/24).

Peter now spends much of his performance time in the corporate sector, having done events for all major Australian companies as either a conference facilitator, master of ceremonies, or simply making them laugh as one of Australia’s best stand-up comedians.

But this body of work means very little to this day. In fact, not a day goes by that he isn’t referred to as… Brett — Kim’s long-suffering husband from Australia’s most loved sitcom, Kath and Kim.

  • Peter was fantastic. He read the room perfectly and made the awards night one the most enjoyable nights ever. Nothing was too much for Peter including signing autographs, having photo’s taken, and mixing with the crowd which they loved. Professionalism personified. Could not speak more highly of a person. Thanks!

  • I personally laughed so much I could hardly breathe!! He was so funny and I am unsure if it was coincidental or not, but I identified with every situation he described. He did a great job helping with the award presentations and certainly brought great value to our event!

  • I thought Peter got the function off to a great start and had the room for the length of his intro - he then proceeded to manage our speakers in a very professional manner. Nedlands Rugby would have no problems recommending Peter for future functions.
