A proud Erubian Islander of the Meriam people, Alicia grew up in the remote Kimberley town of Derby, Western Australia. Her lived experience, combined with a deep connection to her culture, has shaped her commitment to empowering young people and strengthening opportunities for First Nations Australians.
For more than a decade, Alicia has dedicated her career to mentoring and supporting First Nations girls and young women, including in leadership roles with the Deadly Sista Girlz program. Her work has focused on building confidence, resilience and positive pathways for the next generation while championing cultural pride and personal growth.
Alongside her professional career, Alicia established herself as an outstanding dual-sport athlete. She competed at the highest level in both netball and Australian Rules football, representing the West Coast Fever in the national netball competition before playing AFLW with both the Fremantle Dockers and the West Coast Eagles.
Her sporting achievements include selection in the Australian Under-21 Netball Squad, recognition as the 2018 Perth NAIDOC Sportsperson of the Year, and the West Coast Eagles AFLW Best Club Person Award in 2020. Alicia has also contributed to the growth of the game and First Nations representation through her involvement with the West Coast Eagles Reconciliation Action Plan Committee, the AFL Players’ Association Indigenous Advisory Board, and the AFLW Competition Committee.
Today, Alicia shares her powerful personal journey with audiences across Australia, speaking openly about resilience, overcoming adversity, leadership and the responsibilities that come with being a First Nations woman. Her presentations encourage individuals and organisations to embrace diversity, challenge perceptions and create environments where everyone can succeed.
Alicia’s philosophy is captured by a quote from Mae Jemison that continues to guide her journey: “Never limit yourself because of others’ limited imagination; never limit others because of your own limited imagination.”
