The Recliners are a Perth-based duo that pride themselves on performing organic, heartfelt pop, country and blues-infused music, with the ability to perform as a versatile trio or four piece band. As the name suggests, The Recliners are a laidback, earthy ensemble perfect for sundowners, Sunday sessions and corporate functions.

Drawing from a staggeringly broad repertoire of more than 100 modern classic songs as well a their own music back catalogue spanning over a 3 album history which started in the mid 90’s as one of Perth’s most revered original bands, HONEY.

The Recliners as an acoustic duo have entertained crowds at some of Perth’s top venues and premier events for the last 15 years and are adaptable for a variety of situations;

  • Pubs
  • Nightclub
  • Cafés
  • Wedding receptions
  • Corporate functions & award nights
  • Pre-Dinner drinks
  • Company dinners
  • Birthday parties
  • Cocktail functions
  • …and more!

The partnership of founding members Kilian Albrecht and Ian Campbell are at the core of the Recliners, both Kilian and Ian have an intuitive musicality, making the complimentary pairing  an incomparable duo, but with the added diversity by making the Recliners available as a trio or four piece band.

Kilian has been a well-respected and in-demand guitar player around Perth for almost 2 decades across a range of styles and genres. His guitar playing is melodic and tinged with the kind of familiarity that make the classics seem as if they are his own. In the  mid 90’s he played with a variety of bands such as The Surfing Birds, Common Thieves, Throwing Verses and more recently with Dr. Fish  and the highly regarded 80’s concept band OATS SUPPLY.

Original acts he played with  in the late 90’s and onwards include The Externals, Honey, Natalie Gillespie, DM3, The Majestic Kelp and currently with the THE LAYABOUTS. Kilian has also worked as a studio session musician as well as co-written some of the material with Honey, The Externals and The Layabouts.

Ian Campbell has played in numerous bands around Perth since the late 1980’s, starting out with King Crush, going on to join with Kilian in the larger-than-life Oats Supply. Ian spent several years with Dom Mariani’s DM3 as guitarist and vocalist, touring Europe extensively following the release of “Road to Rome”, a Perth power pop masterpiece. As a songwriter of note, Ian has also recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, and at the famous SUN STUDIOS in Memphis.

Ian’s amazing ability to weave rich vocal harmonies around any melody is unique – as well as being the primary vocalist in The Recliners, he also provides the rhythm guitar parts that provide the solid backbone to their sound.

The Recliners are equally adept in trio and four piece combinations; with female vocalist and percussionist Nicoli Hatch (who was an original member of HONEY) adding depth and as a more traditional four piece utilising the talents of Tom Fisher of DR FISH and The Layabouts on bass and backing vocals and the dexterous Chris Richardson (TOURIST, Smoking Section) on drums and percussion.

The Recliners are an adaptable and highly polished outfit creating the kind of breezy, relaxed atmosphere that leaves even the causal observer with a smile on their face (and a song or two stuck in their head)!
